This preliminary workshop announcement just in from Troy Paiva via Flickr:
Joe Reifer and I have secured legal access to the Pearsonville junkyard for a night photography / light painting workshop on October 11th and 12th. We’re gonna base ourselves in Ridgecrest, 15 miles away, where there’s plenty of inexpensive lodging. We’ll offer a technique demo and lecture on the afternoon of the first day, and a critique of the first night’s shooting on the second afternoon. We will have 6+ hours legal access in the yard each night as well as daytime access for scouting.
Our intention is to shoot minimally for demonstration purposes and spend our time helping you learn how to shoot at night and light paint. Price TBD, but it will be in the $550-$600 range. We’ll probably offer an early registration discount and a cash/paypal price. Class will be limited to 10 students.
This is a rare opportunity to learn from me (Troy) in a one on one context, AND to shoot a truly exceptional junkyard before it’s gone (and yes, it is in the process of being destroyed). Within the week we will have a website up, loaded with details, but we wanted to see if there’s any interest level here first. Please feel free to e-mail with questions.
