Last weekend we continued our project to walk every street in Albany, CA. The walk included the freeway frontage roads along Interstate 80. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the walk turned out to be an interesting intersection of traffic, industry, and commerce with a few forgotten creeks flowing here and there. The images below were photographed using 35mm film in a Holga medium format toy camera. Bonus points if you get the reference in image #4. Keep pressing the button and smiling!
- The City of Albany wanted to know if I had any pictures for their website.
- We’d just walked the freeway frontage roads with no sidewalks and
- there’s some cool stuff there. But not necessarily suitable material for stock photography.
- I don’t really make pretty pictures.
- Everyone has their own idea of pretty I suppose.
- I’m just here to look, press the button, and laugh once in a while.

Regarding #4:
I got it! I was first. Yeaaaa for me…
(Hint: December, 2003 at the Lionheart) Is that correct?
Super pix; love the rendering.
Would be cool if some could be hacked into Google’s Street View database…
Andy – you got it.
Brad – Unfortunately my Holga doesn’t store metadata.
Will you and Jen walk every street in the East Bay?!
Georgia – Every Street in Albany was a natural extension to Berkeley because of the proximity to where we live. Once the Albany project has been completed, which will take about 2 more long walks, we’ll be focusing on Jen’s Car-Free Outdoors project.
