Thanks to everyone who attended the Big M Automotive night photography art show at Lucky Ju Ju on Friday night. Great to see some old friends and make some new ones. The show runs through the end of September. Big thanks to Michael and Jem at Lucky Ju Ju — you guys rock! And pinball fans take note — the Pacific Pinball Expo is October 2-4 at the Marin Civic Center — 350 pinball machines to play!

Troy Paiva and I shared our night photography techniques at the Big M Night Photography Workshop on Saturday — a warm night, clear skies, an amazing collection of classic cars, and 7 enthusiastic photographers — we had a blast. And thanks to John and family at the Big M for driving down to the art show in a vintage 50′s Dodge wagon, and for the hospitality on Saturday night!

Also, don’t miss the new night photography gallery on my website — Oak Knoll Naval Hospital (aka Naval Hospital, Oakland).

  1. Fabulous skies in this group, Joe. The place gives me the serious creeps, though. I hope you take someone along w/ you to watch your back while you’re working.

  2. The first few images were on a night with fantastic streaking clouds. On the next visit there were clear skies, so I exposed longer for star trails – mostly about 9-10 minutes, with the one above at 18 minutes. I was with a couple of friends on both visits. It was just us and the deer out there.
