I purchased the Tecopa Hot Springs postcard referenced in my previous post a few weeks back. The postcard arrived in the mail today, and I got a pleasant surprise — the card is postmarked December 1966, and has an entertaining story:

FS-369 — Tecopa Hot Springs, California
The picturesque village of Tecopa located near the world famous health giving hot springs that attract people from all over the nation.
Dec. 28 [1966]
Dear Lu & Bill,
Harold was sick in Bakersfield. I drove from Mojave to Barstow. Tehachapi had heavy snow. Wind blew cold and hard the first night. The accomodations [sic] here are a joke. Baths are good. Weather here is nice now. Harold has stopped 4 times for him to burp up. Will leave here Fri. Couldn’t get [???] on way here.
Love,
Harold & Clara
Driving through Tehachapi with heavy snow sounds like a white knuckle ride.
I can’t wait to make you ‘burp up’ in the Tehachapi’s on our next road trip.
Good score for you but too bad for Harold in 1966. Poor guy. 4x. Come on Harold! Keep it together!
