Lake Tuendae at Zzyzx — by Joe Reifer
Developed by Curtis Springer in the 1940′s as part of a health resort, Lake Tuendae is the home of the endangered Mojave Tui Chub. An image of the lake appears in Joel Sternfeld’s book Sweet Earth: Experimental Utopias in America.

Thanks, y’all. The top photo is a panorama stitched from 5 vertical frames with the 5D Mark II hand-held. I post-processed this image with the intention of eventually going to print. The perspective on the line of trees worked out really well with the cylindrical panoramic projection.
As there seemed to be a bit of interest in this location, the other two images were added for reference. I hope to shoot at this location at night on a future desert trip.

It’s my “problem” I know, but the second view of the swingset works better for me. Big vistas aren’t my thing.

I hear ya, Kent. Glad you dig the alternate view with the swings.
