This panoramic view of the Bay Bridge, downtown San Francisco, Alcatraz, and the Golden Gate Bridge was shot from Angel Island with a Lensbaby Composer using the Pinhole / Zone Plate Optic on the pinhole setting. At an aperture of f/177 (yes, the f/stop is one hundred seventy seven), the hand-held daytime exposures required ISO 5000 at 1/60 second. A total of 9 landscape format images were stitched together using Photoshop CS4 Photomerge on the spherical setting. Click the image above for a slightly larger version. While some vignetting is present, this excercise is proof of concept that hand-held pinhole panoramas are possible. For reference, below is the same scene photographed with a Ricoh GRD II point and shoot camera, utilizing 8 vertical images and the same stitching method.
